‘The Simpsons’ completely trolls the Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have been a complete joke during the 2015-16 season, and The Simpsons took full advantage of the low hanging fruit.

Matt Groening and his team at The Simpsons have never been shy of throwing their opinion around, especially when it comes to professional sports. From taking shots at steroids in baseball to George Steinbrenner’s rules on hair cuts to the multiple appearances of Drederick Tatum (a send-up of Mike Tyson), The Simpsons have shown their ability to keep their finger on the pulse of American sports.

So it should come as no surprise that they made sure to home in on the mess that is the Philadelphia 76ers.

At 5-37, the Sixers are making a mockery of the NBA in their attempt to completely tank the season and secure as high of a draft pick as they can. In fact, Philadelphia has watched their formerly formidable NBA franchise tally exactly 42 combined wins over the last two and a half season, dating back to the 2013-14 season.

Needless to say, Superintendent Chalmers pretty much sums up exactly how the fans are feeling these days. No one wants to admit they are a Sixers fan and the team has had trouble even selling seats at bottom-dollar prices due to an inferior produce that is designed to lose.

At this stage, the Sixers won’t likely go down as the worst team in NBA history. That title belongs to the 2012 Charlotte Bobcats, who managed just seven wins in a shortened season. The full season record for fewest losses, well that already belongs to Philadelphia, after the 1973 team won just nine games. The 2015-16 team could still win just four games over the final 40 games, but given the attention on the team’s losing, they may try just hard enough to eclipse that mark.

Well, maybe just barely.
