Chris Johnson has been out since the end of November, but he vowed to play if his Arizona Cardinals make the Super Bowl.

CJ2K was enjoying a nice late-career renaissance in the desert until he fractured his tibia November 29 against the San Francisco 49ers. Doctors at the time told the running back he wouldn’t be able to return until late January at the earliest, meaning his season would be over unless Arizona made the Super Bowl.

Now that the Cardinals are just one win away from the NFL‘s biggest stage, Johnson is chomping at the bit to return to action, and has declared himself ready to play for Super Bowl Sunday.

“God-willing, we get there,” Johnson said, “and then, it’s showtime.”

The Cardinals placed Johnson on injured reserve with a designation to return almost six weeks ago, optimistically hoping they would make it this far and give the veteran runner a crack at starting in Super Bowl 50.

Johnson played most of his career with the Tennessee Titans, but also had one season with the New York Jets. Needless to say, he’s never been on a team that’s made it this deep into the postseason, and as such must be relishing the magical playoff ride.
