Despite rumors running rampant that Bayern Munich could buy Gonzalo Higuain in the summer, Robert Lewandowski claims he isn’t concerned at all.

Gonzalo Higuain has been one of the most prolific strikers on the planet this season, scoring a remarkable 20 goals in 20 games in Serie A action. The Argentinean hitman has his team top of the table in the Italian top flight at the moment and is looking to lead them to their first league title since the days of Diego Maradona in 1990.

However, according to a plethora of reports emerging from across Europe, Bayern Munich are looking to snap up the 28-year-old in a big-money move. Many have wondered why the Bavarian giants would even consider making a move for another forward, when they already have Robert Lewandowski terrifying opposing defenses.

Despite the rumors of Higuain’s potential arrival, in a recent interview Lewandowski claimed not to be scared of whomever his club purchased during the summer transfer window.

“I don’t know what Bayern’s plans for the future look like, but it would not be a problem for me if they signed another striker, regardless of whether that’s Higuain or someone else,” Lewandowski told Sport Bild, via Goal. “I will still be playing if another striker arrives. I’m convinced of my own qualities. I am strong enough.”

With 15 goals in 16 league matches this season, one shouldn’t be surprised that Lewandowski is confident in his own abilities. The 27-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, and playing time shouldn’t be a problem for him at any club he’s at.

Currently, Bayern Munich lead the Bundesliga with 46 points from 17 matches. They have also reached the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League, will they will be in tough against last year’s finalists, Juventus.

Lewandowski and company will be in action on Friday, when they take on Hamburger SV at 2:30 p.m. ET.
