Chris Paul crossed Matthew Dellavedova up so bad on a step-back that the Cavs guard fell to the ground

It’s no real secret that there is a severe talent discrepancy between Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul and Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Matthew Dellavedova. However, the gap in the talent of the two guards has never been more blatantly clear than on Thursday night when Paul absolutely embarrassed the feisty Australian guard.

Attacking off the left wing with the ball in his hands, Paul looked like he was going to drive on Delly and take him to the rim down the middle of the lane. However, CP3 pulled it back with a nasty step-back that sent the Cavs guard to the ground on his backside. Paul then admired his work for a moment before launching up his wide-open shot:

That’s just pure filth right there and Dellavedova never stood a chance at defending that with any kind of effectiveness. Paul can do this to most players in the league in terms of creating separation, but not every player ends up taking a breather on the ground for their troubles like Delly did on this play.

Unfortunately, this play wasn’t indicative of the first half as a whole for the Clippers as they went into halftime trailing the Cavs. Even still, at least Paul and the Clippers aren’t the ones who probably need an ice pack on their tailbone from taking a seat so hard in the first half.
