Pacific Division. Western Conference. Los Angeles Lakers. 1. player. 20.

The best fit for Luke Walton would be the Lakers. He would be returning to coach the team that he played for all of his career (excluding his forgettable tenure with the Cavs at the end of his career). The front office knows him well and ownership knows him well. Walton would have one of the most desirable and prestigious jobs in all of the major sports. Everybody comes out a winner.

Walton would be a great fit for the Lakers. However, it’s worth questioning if he wants to be a part of what should be a fairly lengthy rebuild. Walton will have a ton of options available should he seek a head coaching job like he is expected. The Knicks, Blazers, Rockets, Wizards, and even the Suns all have at least something to sell to Walton. What exactly do the Lakers have to sell to him? Sure, Jordan Clarkson and D’Angelo Russell have potential. Julius Randle is a 21 year old forward who is nearly averaging a double-double. But other than that, the Lakers don’t have much. That might scare Luke Walton away from them.

But if Walton wants the biggest challenge and wants to stick it to the Warriors for not hiring him as their head coach, why not go to the Lakers?
