NHL Trade Rumors: 5 players Montreal Canadiens must trade for
The Montreal Canadiens need to make moves to save their season. Here are five that they must consider.
The Montreal Canadiens find themselves in a very tough spot. They started off by winning their first nine games and looked like they were going to be Stanley Cup favorites. However, since December 1st, they have won just four games (as of January 23rd). Entering January 23rd, they have lost 17 of their last 21 games with just one of those 17 losses being in overtime. They have gone from leading the Atlantic Division by a significant margin to being knocked out of the playoff picture.
A lot of the blame for Montreal’s recent failures have fallen on their head coach Michel Therrien. He is partially to blame because he has not been able to make the proper adjustments needed for the Canadiens to win without star goaltender Carey Price. However, most of the blame needs to be put on the shoulders of General Manager Marc Bergevin. He missed out on prime free agents to help the Montreal Canadiens with their scoring issues and it has cost them this season.
To save his job, Bergevin is going to have to get his coach better players. It’s a weird trade market right now with many teams still in contention, but that’s the hole that Bergevin has dug himself and the Montreal Canadiens into. Here are five moves that Bergevin must consider making.
