Results and highlights from Charlotte vs Becky Lynch at the 2016 WWE Royal Rumble

Charlotte and Becky Lynch were the best of friends when they came up to the main roster together (along with Sasha Banks), but that relationship has since deteriorated. With Charlotte firmly turning heel since her father, Ric Flair, got into her corner, Charlotte and Becky have been going at it, culminating with a match at the 2016 WWE Royal Rumble for the Divas Championship.

The opening of the match saw the two women both looking to become the aggressor and go on the offensive. However, it seemed like the challenger in Becky was more prepared as more of her early offense was landing on the champ than vice versa.

When Lynch indeed get the upper hand, Charlotte went to the floor. That’s when Ric got involved by pulling Becky off of her and planting a kiss on her to distract her, thus allowing Charlotte to take her down from behind:

The champion then took the clear advantage as she unleashed brutal knees and strikes onto her former friend and then wearing her down with a number of submissions. Becky tried to get back into it, but the champ was able to briefly stay on top.

However, Becky finally landed a big right hand as Charlotte went for the Figure Eight, which allowed the challenger to then get some real offense in, including two huge Exploder Suplexes: https://twitter.com/SenorLARIATO/status/691449802366832641

Lynch’s advantage wouldn’t last too long, though, as Charlotte lit her up with a big spear, but Becky wouldn’t stay down for three. Then, as Charlotte tried to pour it on even further, Becky countered and rolled into her Disarmer submission:

Charlotte got to the ropes, but then things got tricky. The champ hit Ric Flair with a baseball slide, but Ric got on the rope ready to help his daughter as Becky locked in her finisher yet again. Flair threw his sportcoat over the head of Becky and caused her to break the hold. This allowed the champ to hit another spear:

That gave her the win to retain the title at Royal Rumble.

However, it wasn’t over for the champ as she beat down Becky. That’s when the music of Sasha Banks hit and she came out and attacked Lynch. While it looked like Sasha might align with the champ, though, she then beat down Charlotte by locking in the Banks Statement:

There’s your next Divas feud, thankfully now including Sasha competing for the title.
