NFL mock draft: Conference championship edition
By Randy Gurzi
When Rex Ryan took over as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills it was assumed defensive dominance would follow him just as it has in every other stop of his career. Instead the team finished in the middle of the pack in just about every defensive category, and it’s obvious some tweaking needs to be done.
One way to make things look better in 2016 will be to add someone who fits Ryan’s attacking style of defense, and that someone is Georgia outside linebacker Leonard Floyd.
Floyd is a fluid pass rusher, but he also excels at dropping into coverage. Having the option to do either is something Ryan loves to be able to do with his outside linebackers. And dropping Floyd into coverage would generate a lot less criticism than when the boisterous coach decided to drop pass-rushing freak Mario Williams into coverage this year.
Floyd racked up 182 tackles and 17 sacks while playing in Athens and the former Bulldog would most likely only improve in time under the tutelage of not just Rex Ryan, but also his twin brother Rob Ryan, who was recently named an assistant coach for the Bills.
