We are still a month away from March Madness, but Saturday night’s Kansas  was a nice appetizer of craziness.

It’s always fun when two major college basketball powerhouses meet in the regular season, and that was the case on Saturday night when Kentucky and Kansas met in the midwest for one of the best games of the season so far. Things came down to the final seconds of the game to decide a winner, and if you weren’t ready for March Madness before Saturday than you’re hungry for it now.

Despite being underdogs in the game (yeah, right?), Coach Cal and the Wildcats were able to lead No. 4 ranked Kansas late down the stretch, but failed to close out in regulation. It wasn’t a lead that latest long though, as luck bounced both ways a few different times to ensure we went to an extra period of basketball to determine a winner.

With things down to the wire, Kansas went to the free throw line to try and take a one-point lead over Kentucky thanks to this monster block that was 100 percent a foul.

As it turned out, it was a good foul as Kansas only made one of their following free throws — which mean the game was simply tied 76-76.

Despite missing a critical free throw — which was luck that benefited Kentucky — Kansas was bailed out by an out-of-bounds call against the Wildcats which gave the Jayhawks possession with enough time to score thew winning basket.

It didn’t happen though.

Kansas may have missed the final shot of the game which would have won it in regulation, but they held on in overtime to win rather decisively. But the moral of the story is this: we’re only in January and already the madness is starting to run wild.
