3. Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have had quite an interesting season. They’ve struggled to find a rhythm under new head coach Fred Hoiberg and they have been hit by a massive injury bug to some key players.

The team has lost Joakim Noah and Nikola Mirotic in the last couple of weeks and has been dealt a very serious blow to the depth in their front court. If the team is going to survive the stretch run in the Eastern Conference and contend for a spot to play in the NBA Finals, then they need to make a move soon and add some depth up front.

While the team has Pau Gasol and Taj Gibson to rely upon and rookie Bobby Portis behind them, it’s a lot to put on the shoulders of those three to carry all the minutes in the rotation. Adding Rudy Gay up front could provide depth for the Bulls that they need.

He could be another scorer, and more importantly he can take a lot of minutes off the hands of the guys up front. With Gay’s style of play, he could allow the Bulls to go small and run some sets that can compete with the high-powered offenses of the NBA.

The Bulls have the Kings’ pick in the upcoming draft if it falls outside the top-10 and there’s a deal that can be worked out here with salary and maybe a young player going to back to the Kings in return. The Bulls are in a position with young players and some assets that they can make deals. Perhaps they could send back Noah’s expiring contract in a deal, which would provide the Kings cap relief in the offseason along with a pick or two.

Adding Gay could seriously help them survive the last few months of the season.
