1. Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets started the season strong but have faded as it has worn on. That being said, they are still very much alive and in contention for a playoff spot this season if they can make some right moves at the trade deadline. While the team has some guys like Cody Zeller in the front court that can provide a scoring punch, they could certainly use more.

Rudy Gay would be a very nice addition for the Hornets and he could either come off the bench or start for them. A team can never have enough scorers and Gay is a bigger forward that can handle some of those big time scorers in the Southeast Division.

To make a deal work, the Hornets would likely have to part with a Marvin Williams and a bunch of salary filler in a deal, but it could be worth it to get more of a scoring boost. The Hornets are a team that has some young talent and plenty of middling veteran talent.

They have to choose a route, and after years of failed draft busts, the team just wants to get some playoff appearances in and build a winning culture. Adding Gay could give them a spark to overtake some teams and get one of the final spots in the playoffs.
