4. Calvin Johnson owns Thanksgiving

The Detroit Lions and Thanksgiving are synonymous. The Lions playing on Thanksgiving is a yearly tradition and it’s the one game of the year every season, where they are guaranteed to have eyes on them.

While the Lions haven’t always had the best moments on Thanksgiving and have struggled on the holiday, Calvin Johnson has always dominated Thanksgiving and made it his own.

In 2014, Johnson had a very special moment against the visiting Chicago Bears. During the Thanksgiving affair, Johnson broke the Thanksgiving touchdowns record and put himself atop the list for most touchdowns on the holiday.

He had 11 catches for 146 yards and two huge touchdowns for the Lions, as they rallied from an early deficit and set the tone against the Bears in the second half. The Lions would make one of their two appearances in the playoffs with Johnson in 2014, and the win on the holiday was a big one that helped get them a wild card spot.

To make sure that the record is put even further out of reach, Johnson scored three more touchdowns in 2015, which now looks it will have been his final Thanksgiving game ever.

Thanksgiving in Detroit will always be remembered for turkey, family and Johnson catching touchdowns.
