No. 6 Villanova Wildcats vs St. John’s Red Storm

Villanova had won nine consecutive games before a loss to Providence at the end of last week, however, the Wildcats are still one of the top teams in the nation. The Wildcats are the top team in the Big East right now with a 7-1 record, but Jay Wright and Villanova are looking to end with a deeper run in March this year than they did last season as a top seed.

The Wildcats don’t have an overwhelming offense, but it gets the job done. Josh Hart leads the way with 15.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting over 52 percent from the field. Ryan Arcidiacono is second on the team with 12.9 points and leads the Wildcats with 4.3 assists per game. He also shoots 35 percent from long-range.

Chris Mullin’s first season as the head coach of St. John’s has been quite forgettable. It’s going to be an uphill battle from here on out as the former NBA star will be forced to get some elite talent to town before the Red Storm can be competitive in the Big East again. Right now, the Red Storm are just 7-14 after 11 straight losses.

St. John’s is not one of the better offensive teams in the country, averaging just 67 points per contest. Freshman Federico Mussini leads the team with 13.0 points per game to go along with 1.4 steals. Senior forward Durand Johnson is close behind, averaging 12.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
