Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns are both very good at Call of Duty. So good that to unveil the new Downloadable Content maps releasing tomorrow they went to Treyarch studios and showcased them on a livestream.

Events like this aren’t uncommon with big studios. The best way to get a good DLC sale these days is to promote it as much as possible, and maybe get a celebrity or too. Even though Wiggins and Towns might not be turning the heads of non NBA fans they’re still big enough faces to where it’ll get the new DLC a little attention. Also, lets be honest here, Treyarch doesn’t really need to promote CoD of all things. It doesn’t hurt to do so, but they don’t necessarily have to, because it’s gigantic and will sell a ton no matter what.

As for Wiggins and Towns, they definitely seemed to have a lot of fun just hanging out for an hour playing CoD. Towns in particular showed off a very fun personality with trash talk, a lot of jokes, and some shots taken at the expense of Wiggins.

Wiggins wasn’t as talkative, but he came in with gem every once in awhile that was pretty funny. His best at the very end “You might be an all-around guy, but I’m the number one killer.” referring to their final scores. Just like in real life, Wiggins let his game do the talking for him.

Both Wiggins and Towns were skilled CoD players, and Treyarch made the right choice picking them over a couple of players that maybe haven’t played as much. The two Wolves players dominated Kill to Death ratios and it’s hard to tell who was the better of the two. I’d lean Towns, because there were a few moments where he was carrying his team, but Wiggins had some flashes that made him look like the best player in the room at times.

This isn’t the first time the NBA and Call of Duty have combined and I hope it’s not the last. Events like these allow us a little bit of a glimpse into player’s personalities and reminds us that these guys aren’t basketball playing robots. Sometimes they’re online trying to 360 No Scope you from across the map.
