Carmelo Anthony and Marcus Smart are both usually very good basketball players. Their teams, the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics are usually pretty solid teams. Tonight, the two have combined to play some absolutely atrocious basketball. Yet, like a train wreck, nobody can turn away. It’s reached a level of bad that fans can appreciate, like purposefully enjoying a really bad movie.

The highlight of the stink might be this flop by Smart, and then this horrible wide open brick from Anthony.

My goodness this is all horrible. The flop for starters is so over exaggerated that only a ref with the quickest of whistles would fall for it. Players don’t hit the ground that way, and it’s honestly a miracle that Smart didn’t hurt himself in the process.

Yet, that doesn’t even begin to go into how badly Anthony missed this jumpshot. He’s wide open, and there’s not a defender for a mile. For a guy that’s made a career of making some really tough shots it’s just weird to see him miss an easy one like this so badly. It wasn’t even close. Let’s hope the fourth quarter brings some better basketball, because the third definitely didn’t have that.
