In news that should scare the NBA, the Golden State Warriors are apparently top suitors for Kevin Durant.

While the 2015-16 NBA season is not even at the halfway point yet, one of the big stories is the looming free agency of Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant. Unquestionably one of the best players in the NBA over the course of the past few years, Durant being open to join anyone is kind of a big deal, which goes without saying.

Now to this point we have heard about a number of teams that could be potential suitors, such as the Washington Wizards and even the Los Angeles Lakers. But now it seems as if there’s another team right up near the top of the pack, and the identity of this team is actually pretty dang frightening.

According to a

new report from Adrian Wojnarowski

, none other than the Golden State Warriors are said to be front-runners for the services of Durant, which is actually pretty mind-blowing when you think about it. However, the reality of the situation is that while some minor moves might need to be made to make room for Durant, the core of that team which includes Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green could stick together given the current contracts they have and the impending salary cap jump. So, Durant joining the Warriors in free agency this summer is indeed something that’s a possibility.

Also in the report Woj did make it a point to state that Durant hasn’t really given an indication that he plans to leave Oklahoma City, but if he does want to make the jump, the Warriors –who might be the two-time defending champions when that time comes– apparently will be ready to pounce and upgrade their roster on the floor even more.
