Ranking every Super Bowl that’s ever been played in NFL history

Super Bowl 50 is upon us, with Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers out of the NFC set to take on a legend in Peyton Manning and his Denver Broncos representing the AFC. Between the star quarterbacks and arguably the two best defenses in the league ready to make their mark on at Levi’s Stadium, this game has all the makings of a classic.

What’s most interesting is that there is a ton of history on the line. Can Manning capture one more Super Bowl victory, evening his record in the sport’s biggest game? Will Newton put the first ring on his resume? Is this clash between two prolific defenses going to result in a riveting matchup or a snooze fest?

There’s the potential for this game to be something special, considering what both the Panthers and the Broncos have shown that they’re capable of throughout the 2015 season. The question that will eventually be asked is where Super Bowl 50 ranks among the rest of the Super Bowls in league history.

Though this year’s big game has yet to commence, we can look at the history of the Super Bowl and all the games that have led us to what is hopefully a classic in the 50th anniversary of the title game. Ranked from worst-to-first, these are how the first 49 Super Bowls stack up against one another.

Next: No. 49-45
