As the February 18 deadline approaches, here are the 5 best trades the Washington Wizards should make.
The Washington Wizards have regressed this year. After posting their best record in over 35 years and advancing to the Eastern Conference Semifinals last season, the Wizards currently find themselves on the outside looking in with just two weeks left before the NBA All-Star Game.
There’s still a lot of basketball to be played between now and April, but a sub-.500 record might not be good enough to earn a playoff berth in an improved East this year. As of Saturday, Washington is only three games out of eighth place, but they’re also three games out of 13th place and the third-worst record in their conference.
Part of the slide can be chalked up to star shooting guard Bradley Beal’s slew of injuries. Beal has missed nearly half the season due to a variety of unfortunate setbacks, from shoulder and leg injuries to a broken nose and a concussion. When he’s been on the court, however, he’s been fantastic, drilling nearly half his shots and averaging career highs in field goal percentage, rebounds, and points per game.
John Wall has done an admirable job keeping the ship afloat in Beal’s absences, but it’s clear that he’s going to need some help if the Wizards hope to rebound in the second half and build upon the success of recent seasons.
Here are 5 potential trades the Washington front office should consider making if they hope to contend in the playoffs.
