The Boston Celtics reportedly have interest in trading for Rockets center Dwight Howard

The Boston Celtics are currently fighting for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They are looking to upgrade their team as they have a ton of future draft picks that they can give up to make a playoff push.

Well, one of the players that they are reportedly targeting in a trade is Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard.

From NY Daily News:

"Meanwhile, the Celtics have engaged the Houston Rockets in talks about a possible deal for Dwight Howard, the Daily News has learned. Howard can opt out of his contract this summer, and considering his back and knee issues, it doesn’t make much sense for Boston GM Danny Ainge to use the assets on a player with declining skills and a battered body."

The Celtics wouldn’t be wise to give up their future assets for a guy who could opt-out this summer. Granted, the chances of him doing that are low considering his health, however, if the Celtics can get him without having to surrender any of the three first round picks that they own from the Brooklyn Nets, Howard could certainly be a fit with the Celtics. They desperately need a big man and Howard has enough talent that it’s worthwhile to gamble on him if the price is right.

Howard is averaging 14.4 points per game this season, his lowest since his rookie year. He is also averaging 11.8 rebounds per game and has a field goal percentage of over 60 percent.
