20.
The Lakers have won back-to-back games and Kobe Bryant provided 65 (!) points in those contests.

Read that sentence again.

Not everything is positive in Laker-land right now, but Bryant’s recent binge has removed the focus, at least marginally, from the war between Byron Scott and D’Angelo Russell. Make no mistake, the Lakers are a highly dysfunctional product right now, but it is difficult to fully bury them on the heels of two straight wins.

On the “bright” side for their tanking profile, they still own the worst defensive rating (108.2 points allowed per 100 possessions) in the NBA. There’s still hope.
. (11-41). Previous: . Los Angeles Lakers. 4. team

3. team. 147.
The Nets snapped a five-game losing streak in grand fashion on Friday night, building a monster lead and holding on for a nine-point win over the Sacramento Kings. That victory wasn’t (nearly) enough to escape from the top/bottom five, however, as Brooklyn had been playing miserable basketball in previous games.

Even after the win, Brooklyn continues to hold the third-worst net rating (-7.3 points per 100) in the NBA, and there is nothing to get excited about in regards to this team. There are nights when the Nets appear competent (Friday, for example), but those contests are few and far between and they have the stigma of being wildly boring. It’s not a great combination.
. (13-38). Previous: . Brooklyn Nets
