Sacramento Kings head coach George Karl could be living on borrowed time as coach of the team.

The dysfunctional relationship between George Karl and the Sacramento Kings looks like it could finally be heading toward an end soon. While Karl’s job status has been on the edge before and there have been rumors of his demise for some time, it looks like this could finally be the end for him.

Early Saturday morning, Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Kings were weighing the decision to fire Karl. This comes on the heels of the team’s embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets.

Not long ago, it looked like the Kings were finally looking to click a little bit behind All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo. They’re not out of the race for the eighth seed yet in the Western Conference, but they have dropped back a little bit since then.

Needless to say, the loss to the Nets has really got the Kings contemplating what they should do with Karl. The Celtics are in the midst of road swing against the Eastern Conference and ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that it’s not clear whether or not Karl will finish out the trip.

The drama between the Kings and Karl looked like it was finally done with after the Kings started picking up some wins after a terrible start to the season, which saw plenty of tension and questions about Karl’s job status then.

Now the losses are piling up again and the Kings might finally make a change after all.
