Here’s a look at who could and should perform at Super Bowl LI’s halftime.

Super Bowl LI will take place down in Houston, Texas next year. And yeah, I’m writing this post before Super Bowl 50 even takes place, but really it’s never too early to start thinking about who will play the halftime show for next year’s big game.

Every since Justin Timberlake ripped off a part of Janet Jackson’s top, the NFL and their network affiliates have played it relatively safe. The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bruno Mars, Coldplay – the choices have been relatively tame. Though there was that one year with Prince, who played a phallic-looking guitar (and “Purple Rain” in the rain). Still, it’s been a strong shift towards the family friendly scene.

With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at who could and should perform at Super Bowl LI in 2017 down in Houston.

Note: I’m not much for the family friendly stuff, so this list is across the board.

Drake

The man has tons of hits, and he’s a crowd pleaser. He can get away from some of the slower hits and move to the quicker things – like “Hotline Bling” and “Started from the Bottom.” He can also collaborate with any number of people – old and young – and cover songs. Seems like a layup.

Rihanna

This is a risky venture, considering lord only knows what she’ll wear or do. However, Ri Ri will undoubtedly bring the energy and keep the crowd going. If she wanted to, Rihanna would give Michael Jackson and Prince a run for the best halftime show ever.

ZZ Top

They’re from Houston, and it’s a throwback to the older crowds. Billy Gibbons and crew can rock the doors off, and their style of music lends itself to all kinds of covers and collaborations.

Kanye West

Simply the biggest star in the world. It only makes sense to have the biggest star in the world playing in the biggest game in the world.

Steely Dan

No reason, really. I just like Steely Dan.

Zac Brown Band

No reason, really. J.J. Watt just really likes the Zac Brown Band.

Foo Fighters

Dave Grohl rocks.
