Texas Longhorns vs No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners

Shaka Smart has taken over the Texas Longhorns basketball program and the change is already becoming evident. While Texas isn’t exactly the most improved team in college basketball, it is a place for future stars and Smart’s recruiting will only bring the best and brightest to Austin.

Since losing two of their first three Big 12 games, the Longhorns have won 6-of-7 in conference play and 7-of-8 overall. This team is peaking at the right time and even without Cameron Ridley. Isaiah Taylor has been playing great basketball, leading the team with 15.3 points and 5.1 assists per game.

Coming off just their third loss of the season, at Kansas State Saturday, the Oklahoma Sooners will be dropped from the No. 1 overall spot in the AP rankings on Monday. Still, though, this team has had an impressive season up to this point and it’s all thanks to the play of Buddy Hield who might end up being named national player of the year.

Hield has been making opponents looking foolish this season so far, averaging 25.6 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 52 percent from the field and 51 percent from three-point range. The Sooners are one of the top shooting teams in the country and, as a team, shoot over 45 percent from long-range.
