Purdue upset Michigan State after some questionable officiating in overtime.

The Michigan State Spartans weren’t able to get out of West Lafayette without being upset on Tuesday night, but you won’t hear fans ragging on the team for their performance. Instead, the officiating is what is being called into question after the way things shook out in the final minutes of both regulation and then overtime.

Needless to say, Spartans fans on Twitter were not pleased with the way the game ended. Not only was it an upset loss to a Big Ten rival, but the questionable officiating down the stretch didn’t help matters:

Of course, fans of a team that just lost a rivalry game will always blame the refs. Home cooking probably exists but it has been blown out of proportion thanks to fans overreacting to every call.

But Spartans fans might have a proper gripe to pick here after what we saw int he final moments of the Michigan State-Purdue game. That being said, this isn’t a make or break loss for the Spartans and will probably only end up benefiting Purdue later on if they end up as a bubble team.
