Bruins center Patrice Bergeron missed the game against the Wild due to an injury and could be out for more

The Boston Bruins are holding onto the first wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. They could be in for some trouble as star center Patrice Bergeron missed their game against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday due to an undisclosed injury. Bergeron had to leave their game against the Winnipeg Jets due to that injury.

From NHL.com:

"Bruins coach Claude Julien said during his pregame availability that Bergeron is considered day-to-day and will travel with the team to Detroit for the third game of a six-game road trip on Sunday."

It doesn’t look like Patrice Bergeron will play against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday. Replacing him in the lineup is center Ryan Spooner who joins the first forward line with Brad Marchand and Brett Connolly. Forward David Pastrnak replaced Bergeron in his usual spot on the first power play unit.

The Bruins will dearly miss Bergeron for as long as he is out. He plays during every situation and is arguably the best two-way forward in the NHL. Bergeron has won three Selke Trophies as the best defensive forward in the NHL.

Getting Bergeron back in time for their game against Detroit would be huge. The Red Wings are one of the teams competing for a wild card spot (or automatic spot) in the Atlantic Division. Should the Bruins be able to nab two points, that will go a long way towards a postseason berth.
