NBA Rumors: 5 trade destinations for Victor Oladipo
By John Buhler
One trade that seems somewhat realistic involving the Orlando Magic’s shooting guard Victor Oladipo would be to send him to the Magic’s Southeast Division rival in the Atlanta Hawks for former All-Star point guard Jeff Teague.
With Atlanta’s proven track record of player development under head coach Mike Budenholzer, one could expect that the Hawks could harness more of Oladipo’s untapped potential as a star NBA guard than could most NBA teams.
Atlanta should wisely use Oladipo as the team’s sixth man, as pairing him with new starting point guard Dennis Schroder could induce some headaches as both 2013 first-round draft picks would have a hard time sharing the basketball.
In essence, Oladipo could become a star sixth man for a Hawks team that could contend for an NBA Championship if put in the right situation. On the other side of the trade, Teague would give the Magic some much-needed veteran leadership in the backcourt and Orlando would become a playoff caliber team almost instantaneously with him at starting point guard.
Chemistry is the real key with bring Oladipo to Atlanta. If Budenholzer’s staff believe that Oladipo’s energy can be a boost for Atlanta as opposed to a highly volatile situation, then these division rivals could reach an agreement in swapping key pieces in their respective backcourts.
