The Detroit Lions have cut running back Joique Bell.

The Detroit Lions have cut one of their running backs, Joique Bell, according to ESPN reporter Field Yates.

Bell was rehabbing all last season, and was coming off of his rehabilitation this past season. That showed when he stepped on the field for the Lions this past season, as he often looked unconfident in his abilities, and was inconsistent on the field. He did not run very well at all. The Lions decided that the right move in this situation was to cut Bell from the team. Bell was limited to just over 300 yards this past season, and he lost the starting job over the course of the year. Last season he scored four touchdowns and had 286 yards receiving.

This report comes following high-confidence from Bell. In an article published last month, Bell said he feels better than he has in years, and was looking forward to next season. Bell said, “there’s always a chip on your shoulder.” This incident will certainly add to that chip, and make him want to prove himself even more, assuming he finds another team to spend training camp with this season.

The Lions are looking to put this lackluster 7-9 season behind them, and getting rid of Bell is proof of that. They started the season 0-5, but started to bounce back once Bell’s starting job was taken from him. The Lions closed out the season fairly strong with a record of 6-2 in their final eight games.

As for Bell, he will likely find a job rushing somewhere. Teams are always looking for talent in the backfield, and looking for a sleeper pickup when it comes to training camp. Bell will get his moment, and if he truly does feel the best he has in years, he will find a job.
