The Clippers are reportedly pretty close to a deal to land Channing Frye to give them some help down low.

The Los Angeles Clippers were expected to make some sort of waves as the NBA Trade Deadline approaches on Thursday, although a lot of that talk has centered around Blake Griffin. However, on Tuesday Doc Rivers came right out and admitted that the team has no interest in trading their star forward, so some may have assumed the Clippers would get a little quieter.

Well, that’s not the case, as they are reportedly close to a deal to acquire Channing Frye  from the Orlando Magic.

This also means that the Magic are really making some moves, as earlier in the day on Tuesday they traded Tobias Harris to the Detroit Pistons. Now it appears the second move they will make is giving up the center, Frye.

It was reported earlier on Tuesday that the Magic were trying to get Frye on the move, and they apparently found a suitor in the Clippers who can really use the help down low with the loss of Blake Griffin for a while longer with a broken hand.

Now as for what they would get in return, well, the Clippers would be getting rid of Lance Stephenson, although there might be an issue in that department.

So more or less, if they can’t find a better deal for Stephenson, then Fry will be a Clipper.
