The 76ers have no plans to move Jahlil Okafor or any of their bigs unless a motherload offer is put on the table

The Philadelphia 76ers are still the most difficult team in the entire NBA to gauge what their plans moving forward are as whatever the infamous process is changes on a daily basis. On Wednesday night, though, reports surfaced that the Sixers were gauging interest around the league for rookie big man Jahlil Okafor. However, that may not actually be the case.

According to a report from ESPN’s Marc Stein, the 76ers have indeed talked to several teams around the league about Jahlil Okafor and their other valuable young big man, but they are not actively gauging interest. Moreover, Philadelphia is not expected to move Okafor or any of their bigs before the NBA Trade Deadline at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday unless a “motherload offer” was put in front of them:

Given the way that the Sixers have operated in recent years, the real curiosity in all of this would be what they would consider a motherload offer. To some, that might mean an established player, a young asset, and a bevy of draft picks. With how the 76ers have stockpiled draft picks, though, a truckload of picks for Okafor might actually pique their interest.

However, it feels like a safe bet to say that the Sixers aren’t going to be in the business of mortgaging their future yet again by trading Jahlil Okafor like they somewhat did last year at the deadline when they traded point guard Michael Carter-Williams. Then again, you never know when it comes to the 76ers.
