20.
Well, Lakers fans, you can take solace in the fact that your team competed for 48 minutes against the Spurs on Friday. Los Angeles managed to stay within single-digits against the Kawhi Leonard-less Spurs in the first game after the break, but that moral victory couldn’t vault LA out of the top two spots this week.

Byron Scott is probably the worst coach in the NBA, and the Lakers own the worst net rating (-10.7) in the entire league over the balance of the season. Even with the woeful downturn in Phoenix (see below), the Lakers have done everything they can to accumulate ping-pong balls, and even with flashes of competency, Los Angeles isn’t fooling anyone at this point.
. (14-41). Previous: . Phoenix Suns. 1. team. 66.
The Suns are horrifically bad. It may seem blunt, but that statement is accurate.

Phoenix has lost 10 straight games after a 16-point home loss to Houston to kick off the second half, and the Suns have now lost 16 of their last 17 contests. During that stretch, the team has established itself as easily the worst team in the league, posting a -15.2 net rating, and Phoenix was a clear “seller” at the trade deadline.

Given their lead in the standings, it would be unlikely that the Suns could tank to the point where they actually finish with the worst record in the NBA. Still, Phoenix’s roster is pretty brutal in its current state, and even with Markieff Morris off the roster as a malcontent, it seems crazy to think the Suns would be favored in virtually any game down the stretch.
