5. Memphis Grizzlies

Derrick Rose played his college basketball in Memphis and going back there would be a homecoming of sorts for the point guard. Currently, the Memphis Grizzlies only have a little over $30 million on the books heading into the 2017 free agency period. That number could be reduced, as they hold a team option on a couple of players on the roster.

The only real contracts that the Grizzlies have on the books for that season is the contracts of Marc Gasol and Brandan Wright. While the Grizzlies have begun a mini-rebuild at the deadline, as they acquired assets for role players, they will want to keep putting talent around Gasol.

Adding Rose to Gasol would automatically keep the Grizzlies as a playoff team in the Western Conference and if they play their cards right with the assets they have begun to acquire, the Grizzlies could look like a pretty good ball club moving forward.[

Memphis has always been an intriguing situation and while it looks their run is coming to an end with their current core, they are quietly doing work to make the transition to the next core as smoothly as possible. Adding Rose into the fold would keep basketball exciting in the city.
