With Colin Kaepernick reportedly requesting a trade, these five teams should consider trading for him.

After the San Francisco 49ers announced at the NFL Combine that Colin Kaepernick would be on the roster to compete with Blaine Gabbert for the starting job in 2016, it appears that Kaepernick wants no part of what the 49ers have to offer him.

According to Rand Getlin of the NFL Network, Kaepernick’s agents have requested permission from the 49ers to seek a trade partner for Kaepernick.

When the 49ers hired Chip Kelly to be the head coach of the team recently, the belief was that Kaepernick could be the right fit to run his offense. Well, if the reports are true that Kaepernick wants a trade, and they certainly match up to earlier reports of him wanting out this off-season, then it doesn’t look like that Kaepernick will ever run Kelly’s system.

The 49ers have a high pick and will have the ability to draft a quarterback as their future if they feel they have the right guy in the draft. However, they also could simply keep Kaepernick and decide not to trade him either. However, situations like that rarely work and it’s usually best for all parties involved to have a change of scenery.

In this case, it might be best for the 49ers to move Kaepernick and select a young quarterback, which would certainly give Kelly and the front office a longer leash to develop their guy than if they were to keep Kaepernick and the 49ers have another bad season.

If Kaepernick’s demands are met, it will be interesting to see if the 49ers can find a trade partner for him. His $11.9 million salary becomes guaranteed on April 1, and with his poor production last season, it might be hard for the team to deal him.

If there are indeed takers for Kaepernick and the 49ers are willing to trade him, these five teams should consider picking up the phone and making a deal.
