New UFC 196: McGregor vs. Diaz promo released

The UFC has released their first promo for UFC 196 between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.

UFC 196 is just days away and the promotion is scrambling to promote the fight following a late change when Rafael dos Anjos backed out of the fight after suffering a foot injury. That includes promotional videos which need to be redone and the UFC dropped a new promotional video titled “Money Fight.”

It centers around Nate Diaz’s expletive-laced rant at UFC on FOX 17 when he called out McGregor, and includes some ominous visuals of McGregor standing in a darkened Octagon rubbing his fingers together in the general money sign Johnny Manziel made so famous.

It still pales in comparison to the longer promo that the UFC debuted during the fight between Anderson Silva and Michael Bisping on UFC Fight Pass over the weekend. The longer extended promo is certainly more compelling from a diehard fan standpoint and includes more narrative setting the stage for the switch.

Be warned, it also includes a lot of cursing.

How can UFC fans not be excited for UFC 196? The only shame is that we don’t get the full proper build up, like a press tour the likes of what happened between McGregor and then-featherweight champion Jose Aldo ahead of UFC 189.

Then there would be some real fireworks.
