5 possible destinations for Mario Williams
4. Jacksonville Jaguars
Cap space: $80.073 million
Why he fits: Jacksonville has a ton of cap space, and money talks. The Jaguars also play a 4-3 system and that is where Williams has been at his best. General manager David Caldwell knows that should Jacksonville fail to show real improvement in 2016, he is likely on the unemployment line. Williams would immediately bring some much0needed help to a defense that constantly ranks in the bottom third of the league.
Considering the Jaguars don’t have a great secondary by any stretch, Williams would be a quick way to make the corners and safeties look a bit better with the pass rush causing havoc. Factoring in the return of Dante Fowler Jr., last year’s top pick for the Jaguars, it’s a win-win for Caldwell.
Why it doesn’t work: Williams might not want to go to a team that doesn’t have a real chance of winning the Super Bowl. Williams has already gotten two huge paydays from both the Houston Texans and the Bills. At this advanced stage of his career, it might be about winning a title and riding off into the sunset.
