NFL Rumors: Cowboys to cut Brandon Carr and sign Pacman Jones?

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly cutting Brandon Carr, with a possible replacement being Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones.

The Dallas Cowboys have never been afraid to take a chance on a player who has a sketchy off-field persona. They signed domestic abuser Greg Hardy last offseason and drafted Randy Gregory despite the character red flags that plummeted his otherwise impressive draft stock. This isn’t a new concept, as Jerry Jones has always led a rowdy bunch in Dallas, and has been taking chances on troubled players looking for redemption for years.

One thing he doesn’t like doing is losing and overpaying for it. That’s what seemingly will lead to the end of the Brandon Carr era in Dallas this offseason. It might be what also leads to a reunion with a player Dallas has already taken a chance on before.

According to Charles Robinson from Yahoo! Sports, the Dallas Cowboys might end up replacing Brandon Carr with Pacman Jones.

"Barring a pay cut to provide additional salary cap flexibility, veteran starting cornerback Brandon Carr is expected to be released by the Dallas Cowboys, two league sources told Yahoo Sports. A potential replacement for Carr has also surfaced as an offseason target: impending Cincinnati Bengals free agent Adam Jones."

Dallas has already had Pacman on roster once, but it was in the middle of the corner’s not so pleasant off-field issue era of his career. It was a marriage that ended quickly, and was of little production for the Dallas defense. Pacman had issues staying healthy and needed to get his life sorted out away from football before focusing on the gridiron.

But he’s come a long way since then, and the Cowboys going back to Pacman to help shore up their defensive secondary might not be the worst idea Jerry Jones has ever had.
