Jason Pierre-Paul is one of the biggest enigmas of the 2016 NFL
Free Agency period. Here are five teams that should take a chance on the New York Giants defensive end.

Entering last offseason, Jason Pierre-Paul was one of the premier defensive players on the free agent market.

What a difference one year can make.

Unable to reach a longterm deal with Pierre-Paul, the New York Giants slapped the franchise tag on their star defensive end in 2015, ensuring that no other team could land the services of the 6-foot-5, 278-pound pass-rushing specialist that had recorded 42 sacks during his first five seasons in the NFL.

Just a few months later on July 4th, a promising NFL career would take a detour for the worst for Pierre-Paul.

The two-time Pro Bowler was involved in a tragic fireworks accident that resulted in having his right index finger amputated. He would miss the first half of the 2015 season, losing millions of dollars in the process.

Pierre-Paul refused to sign his franchise tag tender last offseason while holding out for a longterm deal. After his accident, the Giants reportedly withdrew a $60 million offer.

Now, Pierre-Paul hits the free agent market with dim hopes of landing the lucrative payday he sought one year ago.

There are several teams that could be in the market for a player of his unique skill-set, though, whether it be as an every down defensive end or a pass-rushing outside linebacker.
