Al Horford is one of the biggest stars that will enter 2016 NBA Free Agency this summer. Here are five teams that Horford could sign with in free agency.

For the first time in his nine-year NBA career since being drafted No. 3 overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, power forward/center Al Horford will test free agency this summer. While it does seem like a tremendously long time to not have the opportunity to feel out the market in NBA free agency, Horford did sign a five-year contract extension with the Hawks back on Nov. 1, 2010 worth $60 million that began the following year in 2011-12.

Those five years have come and gone, but while the Hawks have made the Eastern Conference playoffs all of Horford’s nine years in Atlanta, the Hawks have not made it past the Eastern Conference finals in any of those seasons, with 2014-15 being the only year Atlanta reached the Finals.

Horford will certainly command a near maximum contract on the open market. While the Hawks can offer Horford more money and an extra year because of Bird Rights, he may want to see if he can get a better opportunity to win an NBA championship elsewhere. He did win consecutive NCAA championships while with the Florida Gators in 2006 and 2007.

As Horford will turn 30 this summer, he’s still in the prime of his NBA career, coming off his fourth trip to the NBA All-Star Game. He’s made an All-NBA team before and stands as a player with a unique skill set that he could play both a traditional power forward, as well as a great undersized stretch five at center.

Entering 2016 NBA free agency, Horford is undoubtedly one of the better and more versatile big men in the NBA today. Despite not being moved at the 2016 NBA trade deadline by the Hawks, Horford will garner significant buzz in NBA free agency. Here are the five teams most likely to bid for his services in 2016-17 and beyond.
