Of the many things that New Japan Pro Wrestling does incredibly, one thing that certainly comes to mind is their ability and willingness to book tournaments. There are several of different varieties throughout the calendar year in NJPW, but they’ll get the first one of the new year underway when the New Japan Cup 2016 gets started with the first day of action on Thursday, March 3.

As opposed to other tournaments in NJPW that are round-robin format, the New Japan Cup stands out as a single-elimination tournament. Not only does this diversify what the company does over the course of a year, but it also raises the stakes for every match in the New Japan Cup tournament.
Though NJPW has recently seen some huge talents depart, the New Japan Cup 2016 promises to be incredible as the likes of Hiroshi Tanahashi, Michael Elgin, Tetsuya Naito, and Tomohiro Ishii are all competing for the right to challenge for a title of their choosing at the Invasion Attack pay-per-view in April.
