Five potential destinations for center Hassan Whiteside in 2016 NBA free agency

2016 NBA free agency is going to frenetic in virtually every possible way. Not only is there going to be a ton of money for teams to throw around with the tremendous spike in the salary cap. Teams who were once strapped financially will now have room to potentially sign players to max contracts. One such player who could demand that type of money on the open market is current Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside.

Whiteside’s production in regards to his statistical output is 100 percent undeniable. The 26-year-old center has put up 13.1 points, 11.5 rebounds, and a ridiculous 3.9 blocks in 28.7 minutes per game this season in the 51 contests that he’s played in this season. That across-the-board type of production is essentially unmatched around the league.

However, the deal with Whiteside goes far beyond just his production as he’s quite the divisive figure around the NBA. More than a few people throughout the league—even on the Heat—have questioned his commitment to winning games and doing anything outside of just chasing his individual stats.

Given those concerns about his attitude and so on, there are a number of factors in play in regards to his impending free agency. Not only does any team that’s going to potentially sign Hassan Whiteside need ample room under the salary cap and a need a center, but they’ll also need to either have the right structure in place or the willingness to take a gamble on the center’s character concerns.

With that in mind, these are five places that Hassan Whiteside could potentially wind up in 2016 NBA free agency.
