Donald Trump thanked Tom Brady for helping him win the Massachusetts primary on Super Tuesday
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is good friends with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. The friendship, according to Trump, helped him win the Massachusetts primary on Super Tuesday.

Trump gave credit to a surprising source for his victory in Massachusetts: Brady.
“Honestly, in that part of the world, a reference like Brady saying Trump’s the biggest winner, Trump is a friend of mine, that makes an incredible difference,” Trump said, via the New York Times. “[Tom] is a great friend of mine. He’s a winner and he likes winners. He was very helpful to us in Massachusetts on Tuesday.”
Brady has tried to distance himself a bit from Trump in the past few months, refusing to comment on his politics but still calling him “a good friend”. And understandably so because Trump has controversial opinions and Brady doesn’t want to soil his reputation by agreeing with Trump’s political views.
Still, one has to think that Brady’s support for Trump and friendship with him likely has something to do with how people in New England view Trump. Brady is a hero in the northeast and anyone who Brady associates with tends to see public opinion bumps because of that. One downside of Brady’s affection for Trump is that he could have trouble winning in New York or Indiana where public opinion of Brady is much lower.
