Damian Lillard launches from near half-court at buzzer (Video)

Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard launched a deep shot from near half-court at the end of the first quarter against the Raptors.

For the last week and change in the NBA, players have been unloading from the depths of near the half-court line, ever since Stephen Curry hit a game winner from there. On Friday night, Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard was the latest to unload from deep.

With the clock running down at the end of the first quarter against the Toronto Raptors, Lillard let go of a shot from all the way near the half-court line and hit nothing but net on the shot.

If there’s anyone that might be as close to a deadly shooter as Curry in the league, it’s Lillard. He’s made plenty of ridiculous shots in his career before, and this latest one is par for the course when it comes to Lillard.

Raptors guard Cory Joseph tried his best to extend his arm out and disrupt the shot on the play, but Lillard was so locked in that there was just no way he was going to miss. If the NBA wants to capitalize on a new gimmick, it should be shooting contests from near the half-court line.
