Allen Iverson showed respect for the recently retired Peyton Manning in an awesome tweet.

Peyton Manning has inspired many athletes during his historic career with the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts. Counltess NFL players have been tweeting about how meaningful Manning is to them and how he has inspired them.

Count former Philadelphia 76ers star Allen Iverson as someone who has been inspired by Manning.

Greatness respects greatness. Iverson was one of the NBA’s brightest stars for quite some time. His incomparable moves and determination made him one of the most popular NBA players of the 21st century. Likewise, Manning used his charm, consistency, intelligence, and dedication to winning to become arguably the NFL’s most popular player of all-time.

Iverson averaged 26.7 points per game during his 14 year career. He also averaged 2.2 steals per game and 6.2 assists per game. The 11 time All-Star and 2000-2001 NBA MVP might not be a future Hall of Fame player like Peyton Manning. However, the two players were driving forces behind their respective leagues and were both among their respective leagues most popular players.

Manning will retire with two Super Bowl wins. He holds the NFL records for most career passing yards (71,940) and career touchdown passes (539). Manning is expected to officially announce his retirement on Monday.
