New York Mets pitcher Jeurys Familia tried to break in his glove by sticking it in the microwave.

There’s nothing quite like getting a brand new baseball glove. The smell of the fresh leather and the excitement of breaking in the glove create endless wonders for baseball players. It’s also a sign that the season is around the corner and that it’s time to break in the new glove.

There’s many ways to break in a new glove. There’s oils that can be used on the leather, stretching it and even playing catch, which can be difficult to grip onto a baseball if the glove isn’t broken in. Another way to break in a glove is sticking it in the microwave, if you’re Mets pitcher Jeurys Familia.

Trying to break in his glove, Familia decided to microwave it and loosen it up. On team cook Theresa Corderi’s Instagram account, she posted a video of Familia standing patiently by the microwave watching.

You can tell by Familia’s reaction that he wasn’t quite sure if sticking his glove into the microwave was going to work out or blow the thing up, but the sheer look of joy on his face after makes the whole thing worth it.

Still, don’t try this at home.
