42. <p>When we last put out a mock in this space, it appeared for all the world as if Colin Kaepernick would be the guy in San Francisco during the 2016 season. In short order, that sentiment changed.</p> <p>Kaepernick still may be the starter in week one for the 49ers, but his camp is telling anyone who will listen that the quarterback wants out, and Chip Kelly does not appear to be a guy who has any patience for that type of thing. Even if Kaepernick is still around, Kelly won’t be shy about looking for “his guy” toward the future, and Goff being available at number seven opens up all kinds of possibilities.</p> <p>As discussed previously, Goff is still very much in the conversation for the Browns with the second overall pick and there are a few teams (Rams, Texans, etc.) who might want to move up to snatch him before the Niners pick. He is capable of getting the ball out quickly with accuracy and there are no questions about Goff’s college production given the way that he lit up the Pac-12 over multiple seasons.</p> <p>The 49ers could look at the defensive side with a player like Myles Jack or even at wide receiver with Laquon Treadwell, but if Chip Kelly finds a quarterback that he likes, it would make sense to pounce and sort things out with Kaepernick at a later date.</p>.
