It was going to take some time for the new people in town to get their footing, but it seems that the Jacksonville Jaguars are finally ready to make some noise under their relatively new billionaire owner Shahid Khan.

Khan made his fortune in the automobile industry in Jacksonville with his parts company Bumper Works. He’s the epitome of the American Dream, coming to the United States from Pakistan for college in the 1970s.

After careful evaluation of the once-barren roster that former owner Wayne Weaver put on display in North Florida in the late 2000s, Khan and general manager David Caldwell seem to have entered the next phase of building their AFC football franchise.

While wins have been scarce the last five years, it seems that the Jaguars are able to present a vision of long-term success to both free agents and draft prospects. It takes tremendous foresight to leave a winning culture in the Denver Broncos, but defensive end Malik Jackson must be buying into what Khan and Caldwell are preaching in Jacksonville.

There is something good bubbling beneath the surface in Jacksonville, and Jackson, like his former Broncos teammate tight end Julius Thomas, might be ahead of the curve in choosing to leave Denver for the Jaguars. They can both get paid and build something truly special in North Florida with the Jaguars.
