Ronaldo breaks the deadlock with Roma to score his 90th goal in UEFA Champions League play.

Roma came into this second leg at the Bernabeu down 2-0 on aggregate, having to score twice to tie Madrid. Although most gave them no chance, Roma came out fighting. With multiple chances in the first half, Roma could have tied the aggregate score up early on and given themselves the chance to do what many thought impossible. After missing two one-on-one’s with the keeper, though, Roma, virtually took themselves out of an upset bid against one of Spain’s best teams.

Ronaldo made sure they had no chance almost twenty minutes into the second half. Substitute Lucas Vázquez came on for Real Madrid and immediately made a difference. After taking on a Roma defender with fancy footwork, he sent in a cross and Ronaldo was there to finish it. This goal was Ronaldo’s 90th UEFA Champions League goal. It put Real Madrid up 1-0 and put them all but through to the round of eight in the Champions League. After going up 3-0 on aggregate, Roma’s chances were squandered and Madrid has been dominate ever since.

After going up 3-0 on aggregate, Roma’s chances were squandered and Madrid has been dominate ever since. Just a couple minutes after Ronaldo put his chance away, he provided James Rodriguez a goal and now all Madrid has to do is wait on the final whistle.
