Here are five reasons why the Houston Texans signing Brock Osweiler is a good move.

Before free agency officially began on Wednesday, the Houston Texans shocked everyone by snagging quarterback Brock Osweiler away from the defending Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos.

Osweiler was given a whopping $72 million and will now be the franchise quarterback going forward for a Houston team that has plenty of talent but has been missing a quarterback. Osweiler finally got his chance to play for the Broncos this season and he played really well, compiling a 4-2 record before the team decided to turn things back over to Peyton Manning.

Investing $72 million in a quarterback is a risky proposition, especially when that quarterback doesn’t have many starts under his belt, but Osweiler is a quarterback that many around the league feel strongly about. Now in Houston, he will get his chance to shine under head coach Bill O’Brien and will have plenty of talent around him, with the Texans having a strong receiving core and just having added Lamar Miller at the running back spot in free agency.

Still, with such a big contract and heavy investment, it’s the type of deal that can make or break the future of a front office. If it works out, then the Texans look great. If it doesn’t, then it could spell the end of jobs for coaches and the front office.

Here are five reasons why it is a good deal for the Houston Texans.
