Syracuse Orange vs Pittsburgh Panthers

Syracuse is one of those bubble teams that needs a couple wins in the ACC Tournament in order to make the Big Dance. Jim Boeheim’s squad didn’t finish the season as strongly as it would have liked, losing four of five games, including a home loss to Pittsburgh. The Orange will look to exact revenge during the conference tourney Wednesday.

Senior forward Michael Gbinije has been the leading force of the team, averaging a team-high 17.6 points to go along with 4.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. He’s also shooting over 40 percent from three-point range. Malachi Richardson is second on the team with 13.2 points as well as 4.4 rebounds per contest.

Pittsburgh is another team looking to get off the bubble completely with a win or two in the conference tournament. The Panthers are 20-10 and finished the ACC season with a 9-9 record after going just 3-6 in the final nine conference games. Pitt may very well be in the field as a No. 10 seed or so, but the Panthers need to add to that resume.

Michael Young has been fantastic all season long, averaging a team-high 16.1 points and 7.1 rebounds while shooting 54 percent from the field. Jamel Artis is close behind him, scoring 14.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. If the Panthers are going to win this one, it’s going to be up to the formidable duo.
