Aaron Gordon had one of the greatest dunk contests in NBA history and as a result has become must see television for any basketball fan. At any moment Gordon can breakout a highlight reel dunk and make us all question if the dunk contest has actually ended. Tonight, Gordon earned himself another 50 with this reverse one handed slam.
There’s a lot that’s impressive about Gordon here besides the dunk. Notice that when he catches the ball he doesn’t immediately go. He waits for when the defender is off balance and then puts the ball on the floor at a point when they won’t have a chance to recover. Gordon then uses his superior speed to blow by his man and at that point it’s just an easy two points. He just adds insult to injury by throwing down the dunk as ferociously as possible. Style points for doing it with the defender still slightly there. A less athletic player would have had this blocked, but for Gordon it’s just another highlight.
