Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh may return this season after his second battle with blood clots.

Chris Bosh, star power forward for the Miami Heat, has had quite the career. A career that until a few years ago was relatively uneventful. Bosh rarely missed time on the floor, and was a staple for the Eastern Conference All-Stars.

Then, over last season’s All-Star break, Bosh was diagnosed with blood clots. After a second battle with blood clots this season, which it was thought would sideline him for at least the remainder of this season, Bosh is now considering a return to the court.

Within the last year blood clots have cost the Heat’s superstar, to the point he had to consider shutting down his season in hopes of making it in the future. Last season, physicians found blood clots in his lung.

A few weeks ago, Bosh faced the harsh reality that the blood clots were not gone, but back for a second bout. This has left Bosh sidelined once more, while Miami fights for playoff positioning.

While Bosh could play with blood thinners, that poses a serious risk for Bosh’s health if he were to be cut. The blood thinners would leave him at a greater risk for a more harmful injury. The team doctors have been pressuring Bosh to consider sitting out the season, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical a few weeks back.

Now, according to Tim Reynolds of Yahoo, Bosh has been cleared of active blood clots and hopes to return to the Miami Heat this season.

Bosh making this leap seems to be a questionable one. While it is easy to understand why an All-Star like Bosh would want to get back on the court, his continued struggles with blood clots should scare him. Another setback could put his career in jeopardy.
